Hiking

Elkin’s location in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains result in a plethora of trails for all levels. We are at the confluence of the Overmountain Victory Trail, the Yadkin River Trail Blueway, and the Mountains-to-Sea Trail between Stone Mountain State Park, Elkin, and Pilot Mountain State Park. The Elkin Valley Trails Association has details on all the area’s hiking trails and you’ll find a Trail Map in your cabin with the trails accessible from your cabin!

Bike & Paddle

Surry County has 100 miles of canoe/kayaking, over 500 miles of official bike routes, and 36 miles of stocked trout waters! The Four Rivers Map and River Outfitters can be found on the Explore Elkin Outdoor Activities page!

Elkin Farmers Market

Enjoy local produce, vendors, and live music Saturday mornings from 9am - 12pm mid-April to October in the Elkin Town Hall parking lot, one block north of Historic Downtown Elkin at 101 W Market Street.

The Elkin Municipal Park has tennis courts, walking track, playground, swimming pool, picnic shelter and our Recreation Center for indoor fitness and basketball courts. There is also Chatham Park, Crater Park, Carter Falls, Stone Mountain State Park, Pilot Mountain State Park, and the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, all in the area!

The Reeves Theater is a beautiful art deco movie house that originally opened in 1941. It has long been a staple of downtown Elkin, even the years it lay empty. In 2013, three long-time Elkin residents decided to breathe new life into the Reeves Theater, fully restoring the original building and invigorating the downtown nightlife and music scene.
